The PX to CM Converter is built for anyone who moves work between screen and paper: print designers, web developers, photographers, students and crafters.
At the standard web/CSS resolution of 96 DPI, 1 pixel = 0.0265 cm, and 1 cm = 37.795 pixels. This is because CSS defines 1 inch as 96 px, and 1 inch equals 2.54 cm.
PX to CM: CM = (Pixels ÷ DPI) × 2.54
CM to PX: Pixels = (CM ÷ 2.54) × DPI
Example: a 600 px wide image at 96 DPI is (600 ÷ 96) × 2.54 = 15.875 cm.
A pixel has no fixed physical size. It only becomes a real length once you choose a density (DPI for print, PPI for screens), which is why the converter asks for it.
| Pixels | Centimetres |
|---|---|
| 1 px | 0.0265 cm |
| 10 px | 0.265 cm |
| 50 px | 1.323 cm |
| 100 px | 2.646 cm |
| 500 px | 13.229 cm |
| 1000 px | 26.458 cm |
| Centimetres | Pixels at 96 DPI | Pixels at 300 DPI |
|---|---|---|
| 1 cm | 37.80 px | 118.11 px |
| 2.0 cm | 75.59 px | 236.22 px |
| 5 cm | 188.98 px | 590.55 px |
| 8.5 cm | 321.26 px | 1003.94 px |
| 10 cm | 377.95 px | 1181.10 px |
2.0 cm is about 75.6 px at 96 DPI, or 236.2 px at 300 DPI (print quality).
8.5 cm is about 321.3 px at 96 DPI and 1004 px at 300 DPI. It is a common width for business cards and badges.
At 96 DPI, 430 x 360 pixels is 11.38 cm × 9.53 cm. At 300 DPI it prints much smaller, at 3.64 cm × 3.05 cm.
32.5 cm ÷ 2.54 = 12.795 inches. Multiply that by your DPI to get pixels (12.795 × 96 = 1228 px).
PPI (pixels per inch) describes screens; DPI (dots per inch) describes printers. In practice, both set how many pixels fit in one inch. More pixels per inch means a smaller physical size for the same pixel count.
Example: a 200 px wide design measures
| 72 DPI | 7.06 cm |
| 96 DPI | 5.29 cm |
| 300 DPI | 1.69 cm |
Website banner: 1200 px at 96 DPI → (1200 ÷ 96) × 2.54 = 31.75 cm.
Photo print: 3000 px at 300 DPI → (3000 ÷ 300) × 2.54 = 25.4 cm (a 10 inch square print).
Conversions use the exact definition 1 inch = 2.54 cm and the CSS reference of 96 px per inch, as defined in the W3C CSS Values and Units specification. Results are rounded to a few decimals. On-screen physical size varies by display, so a 5 cm box on your monitor may not measure exactly 5 cm with a ruler. For print, always confirm dimensions with your printer's specifications.
Divide the pixels by the DPI, then multiply by 2.54. At 96 DPI, 96 px equals 2.54 cm.
Divide centimetres by 2.54, then multiply by the DPI. At 96 DPI, 1 cm equals 37.795 px.
No. Physical pixel size depends on screen density. That is why you must set a DPI/PPI to convert to centimetres.
300 DPI is the usual standard for sharp print. Large posters viewed from a distance can use 150 DPI.
